After a escaping the war in Karabakh, along a long route in 1993, they passed through many places, and settled in Baku. Both IDPs met and married in Baku. He works as a hairdresser while she takes care after their 4 children. The elder one, who could not speak until she was 8 years old, now sings mugham (folk musical composition), and her dream is to go to Turkey and take part in the Voice of Turkey TV show. She inherited her voice from her mother, who could not be realised as a khanande ( mugham singer), and now does everything for her daughter to reach her dreams. This film is about the hope, through the difficulties and the conditions they’ve surpassed, a hope to be happy and for dreams to come true.

Born in 1980 in Azerbaijan, holding a degree in Film and Theater Directing, Imam emerged as a director staging several plays in Baku Camera Theater. In 2006, after a Studio Ateliers Varan course on documentary film, he started working as a director for national TV. HOLY COW is his first feature documentary. It received the CAUCADOC BEST PITCH AWARD in 2012 and was awarded at DOK INCUBATOR 2015. Imam is an alumni of the BERLINALE TALENT CAMPUS. "Holy Cow" was participted and screened in IDFA film festival. This was the first film from Azerbaijan that took part in such big festival.
