Summer screenings of The Enigma of Faina
We are excited to announce that The Enigma of Faina, an animated documentary, is set to premier at nearly a dozen festivals this summer, including several events in June-July.
Directed by Durna Safarova, The Enigma of Faina tells the story of Azerbaijan’s first female political prisoner, Faina Kungurova, who lost her life under suspicious circumstances during a hunger strike in jail.
The curators of the Documentarist - Istanbul Documentary Days included the film in the AnimaDoc section. Documentarist is the leading documentary film festival in Turkey. Its 15th edition started on June 25. It will run through June.
The film will also be shown during the Maremetraggio section of the 23rd edition of ShorTS International Film Festival. The event will take place from July 1-9 in Trieste. It will be the third time Italian audiences have had the chance to view the documentary.
Lastly, The Enigma of Faina will be shown at the 13th edition of Anibar International Animation Festival in Kosovo as part of the Human Rights Competition. Anibar is the only animation festival in Kosovo, and one of the biggest cultural events in the country. The festival will take place in Peja, from July 13-19.
