In Azerbaijan, Arzu has the last IKARUS bus still running to Sumgayit from the remote region of Lenkoran. The IKARUS used to be considered the height of luxury, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, passengers preferred new buses. So all the drivers have left their old friend and upgraded, but Arzu couldn’t – his father was and is still against his son getting a new bus. For him there’s none better than his old friend IKARUS. Nowadays, Arzu is struggling to survive, opening the doors of his exhausted, rusty IKARUS to everyone - and everything that new buses refuse to carry. But he still lives with the dream of getting a new bus one day!

Orkhan Aghazadeh
Orkhan Aghazadeh was born in Lenkoran, Azerbaijan on August 30th, 1988. When he was in high school a film crew came to the village to make a documentary about a farmer. They wanted to have a woman (an extra) in the foreground in the frame but nobody agreed so they asked Orkhan to cover his head and be in the frame (out of focus). After this case everything changed in Orkhan’s head – he decided to be a filmmaker. After getting a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications he was accepted into the MA Filmmaking program of the London Film School and he is currently in his final year.
