Her everyday politics

How does society treat women who go into politics?

When filmmaker Keti Machavariani decided to make a short film about Elene Khoshtaria, a female politician of her generation, she received her unconditional consent. The filming coincided with several important episodes in the life of the politician as she challenged public opinion, norms and expectations.  The choice of this mother of four children is largely determined by her family heritage. Her grandfather was repressed and shot by Stalin and her father was a member of a dissident movement and served as foreign minister after Georgia reclaimed its independence.

What does it mean to be a female politician in Georgia today? - Through her film, Keti Machavariani seeks to understand the process.
