Fighting against plastic, one straw at the time

Mariam Nanobashvili, a 31-year-old copywriter, is one of Georgia’s pioneers of a low-waste lifestyle. Six months ago she’s stopped using plastic as much as possible, including toothbrush, plastic bags, cups, cutlery and straws.

Waste management becomes one of the most global problems in the world.

This year, ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Сarl Hartzell, launched a social media campaign on reducing plastic waste.    

Georgia generates around 900,000 tons /3.42mn m3 of household waste annually. One person produces 600 kg of waste per year.
